The Madras President received the honor of being the first person to establish a service commission in India. It started with a total of three members including the chairman. After the re-constitution of the states in the year 1957, then several commissions were set up. The Madras Service Commission became the Madras Public Service Commission and had its headquarters in Madras in the year 1957. The name of the state was changed to Tamil Nadu in the year 1970. Then it became the name of the Madras Public Service Commission. Changed to Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission or TNPSC.

Eligibility Criteria for Group 2 Exam:

  • The candidate will have to complete a graduate examination with specialization in any stream from a recognized board with minimum aggregate marks.
  • Candidate must be a citizen of India
  • The age of the candidate should be at least 21 years and the maximum age limit should be 36 years. For all posts except Probation Officer in Sub-Registrar Grade 2, Department of Social Defense, and Grade II Department, the minimum age of the candidate is 18 years.
  • To apply for the position of Sub-Registrar Grade II, the candidate must be at least 20 years old.
  • The minimum age for the post of Probation Officer in Jail Department is 22 years
  • The minimum age to apply for the position of probation officer in the Department of Social Defense should be 26 years.

TNPSC Recruitment 2022 Application Form:

  • Candidate can apply online
  • To apply, the candidate is required to complete registration once on the official website of TNPSC.
  • This one-time registration will be valid for a period of 5 years starting from the day of registration.
  • Candidates who have already completed their registration will need their user ID and password to login.
  • Registration ID can only be created once.
  • To sign into the official website of TNPSC, the candidate has to use a one-time registration user ID and password.
  • Then the candidate has to click on the “Apply” link which is against the recruitment information available on the official website of TNPSC.
  • Then the candidate has to fill all the required details
  • Select the name of the post you want to apply for.
  • Then you have to upload the photograph with signature
  • After completing all these steps, the candidate has to submit the application form and then take a print of the form for future reference.

Exam Pattern for Group 2 TNPC Recruitment

The exam will be in three parts:

  • preliminary examination
  • Main
  • The interview

preliminary examination:

  • There will be a total of 200 questions in the exam and the total marks allotted will be 300.
  • Candidate has to complete the paper in 3 hours
  • There will be a total of two sections – General Studies and Language Section. General Studies will appear in 2 languages ​​- Tamil and English. The language section will be either Tamil or English. This will depend on the language that the candidate has chosen in the application form.

Section-wise distribution is mentioned below:

  • There will be total 75 questions in General Studies and total marks will be 150.
  • There will be a total of 25 marks in the Mental Ability and Aptitude Test.
  • There will be a total of 100 questions in General English / General Tamil and the total marks allotted will be 150.
  • You have to complete the entire question paper in 180 minutes (3 hours).

Main Examination:

  • There will be a total of 4 sections in the main examination.

Section one – There will be a total of 30 questions, each carrying 3 marks. The total marks allotted will be 90. The candidate has to attempt a total of 30 questions out of a total of 35 questions.

Section b – There will be a total of 15 questions in this section and 8 marks will be allotted in each question. Therefore, the total marks is 120 marks. The candidate has to attempt 15 questions out of total 18 questions.

Section C – This section will have 2 questions with a total of 15 marks. There will be a total of 3 questions in this section and the candidate has to attempt 2 questions out of total 3 questions.

Section D – This section will have a total of 2 questions and each question carries 30 marks. There will be a total of 4 questions, out of which the candidate has to make 2 attempts.
