CDS eligibility criteria 2021: Many eligible applicants appeared for the Joint Defense Services Examination, which organized the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) for those students who are willing to pursue a career in the government sector. Applicants are required to check the entire eligibility criteria below.

The Union Public Service Commission conducts the Joint Defense Services Examination twice every year. As per the CDS Exam Eligibility Criteria 2021, Indian citizens between the age of 19–25 years are eligible to apply for the CDS Defense Job Examination.

CDS eligibility criteria 2021 according to nationality

Applicants should have:

  • A citizen of India, or
  • A subject of Bhutan, or
  • A subject of Nepal, or
  • A Tibetan refugee who came to India before January 1, 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India, or
  • (v) A person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka and East African countries with the intention of permanently settling in India.
  • A certificate of eligibility is also mandatory for Nepal’s Gorkha candidates.

  • Graduates with first choice as Army / Navy / Air Force are required to produce provisional certificates of graduation on the date of commencement of SSB interview at SSB centers.

Physical standard

  • Applicants must be physically healthy according to the physical standard guidelines.
  • Many applicants are rejected on medical grounds.
  • Applicants should be advised to undergo medical examination before submitting their application.

Physical Standards for CDS Exam 2021

Height parameters

  • The minimum acceptable height for male category applicants is 157.5 cm (157 cm for Navy and 162.5 cm for Air Force).
  • For women category applicants, the minimum height is 152 cm.
  • For Gurkhas and those who belong to the north-eastern regions, Garhwali and Kumaon, the minimum height will be 5 cm less.
  • In the case of applicants from Lakshadweep, the minimum allowable height may be reduced by 2 cm.

Steps to fill CDS 2021 application form

Check out the simple steps involved in the CDS application process:

Step 1: CDS Registration

  • Visit the UPSC CDS 2020 official website
  • Click on Part 1 registration to open the registration form on the home page.
  • Enter your name, date of birth, parents name, address, category, mobile number, email ID and other basic information.
  • Your registration number You will be sent as SMS and email.

Step 2: Pay CDS application fee

  • Pay the application fee for CDS which is INR 200.
  • Women, Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Fees are not required to pay any amount of payment.
  • Fees can be paid through debit / credit card or SBI NetBanking in online mode and cash payment at any SBI Bank branch in offline mode.
  • Generate a bank challan during the registration process to pay the fee
  • Submit the form along with the fee to any SBI Bank branch.

Step 3: Fill the CDS application form

  • Complete their form by entering personal and educational information.
  • Indicate your preferred position between IAF, IMA, INA and OTA.
  • Also, choose the CDS exam center as per your choice.
  • Fill the form very carefully as no correction will be allowed after closing the application process.
